about us
SomethingFest is a community-led one-day “venue crawl” music festival, established in 2025, that takes place annually in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal) during the summer. We are an entirely DIY festival—our primary incentive being to give back to the communities we’re rooted in. Through mutual collaboration with artists and local creatives, 100% of our profits fundraised from the festival are donated to our chosen local charity that year; we donated our previous year’s proceeds to NDG Food Not Bombs, Indigenous Community land defenders opposing Bill 97, and this year’s to Solidarity Across Borders Montréal.
SomethingFest is entirely built and runs on collective effort, priding ourselves on creating an open and welcoming environment for artists, volunteers, staff, and collaborators. What we do is made possible through the help of our dedicated volunteers and we pride ourselves with fostering an environment where everyone is welcome to share ideas (big or small), collaborate and take part in building this project. From visual artists designing merch and posters, musicians performing at the festival, and burgeoning videographers creating promotional material, we seek to foster and promote art and creativity in all facets. Through engaging with all that the city’s inhabitants have to offer, we aim to experiment with expanding the boundaries of what a live music festival can be!
We began this festival as a way to contribute and leave our mark on Montréal’s vibrant cultural landscape through creating art for a good cause and fostering a community of our own. We are a team of music and art lovers who feel passionate about giving a platform to smaller Montréal artists that we love! We are devoted to platforming local artists to audiences who may otherwise never have seen them, operating as a jumping off point for artists emerging in the scene, as well as a stage for established artists to feel free experimenting on. In aiming to foster collaboration, we are devoted to celebrating and platforming the talent that already exists right here in Montréal. By encouraging people to step outside of their comfort zones, SomethingFest seeks to give artists the freedom to try something they’ve never done before in a low-pressure, non-judgmental setting.
